Hi! My name is Jasmine. I'm Genevieve's mom. My husband, Andrew, and I waited 8 months to get those amazing two pink lines on a pregnancy test. The pregnancy was very healthy and Genevieve was looking great at every scan.
On September 4th at our normal 39 week appointment we heard the heartbreaking words that no expecting parents ever want to hear, "I'm sorry there is no heartbeat." Genevieve had been kicking normally the night before. Since I was still at zero cm we made the decision to go home and sleep in our own bed that night before going in to get induced the following morning.
We were very lucky that the hospital where we delivered had a Jane's Room for us to deliver in. That meant we had a large room all to ourselves set away from the normal maternity ward. We were allowed to have as many guests as we wanted whenever we wanted and they brought us a cart of snacks and drinks for everyone there. I am so grateful for the Jane's Room Foundation for making our stillbirth more comfortable.
Genevieve was born at 3:54 pm on Friday, September 6th, 2024. She was 6 lbs 11 oz and 21 inches long. During labor the OB discovered that Genevieve was so tightly wrapped in her umbilical cord that they had to cut it in order for me to finish delivering her.
We are so fortunate to have Bridget from Bridges to Births donated her time and talent to take photos after Genevieve's birth. I would highly recommend her for maternity, labor, or newborn photos.
